sanjay joined nea in 2019 as an investor focused on the healthcare it, services, biopharma and medical device sectors. prior to joining nea, sanjay was an investment banker in lazard’s healthcare group advising on strategic and m&a transactions. he has also held positions at johnson & johnson, focused on new product development, and the national institutes of health (nih), conducting basic science research in the field of cancer.
sanjay is a graduate of the university of pennsylvania’s roy & diana vagelos program in life sciences & management, where he earned a b.a. in biology as well as a b.s. in finance from the wharton school. during his time at penn, sanjay worked with the scientific founders of cabaletta bio to develop their clinical and commercial strategies prior to the launch of the autoimmune focused cell therapy company. he also consulted with early-stage life sciences startups through the wharton small business development center and conducted t cell therapy research at penn med’s center for cellular immunotherapies led by dr. carl june.
